“When I was young, I used to love watching The Carol Burnett Show. When she
strutted down those stairs in a parody of Gone With The Wind wearing window curtains
and said, ‘I saw it the winda an I just couldn’t resist it’, my love of parody theatre was born.
There was no greater reward for me than when the audience howled and whooped in
side-splitting laughter at my plays. To know that for a few hours, no matter what stressors or
tragedies might be occuring in their lives, that they got to forget all their troubles and laugh till
tears streamed down their faces or they wet themselves, was truly the best reward ever.”

“Plays–even parodies–mirror life. Too many plays were mirroring everything from the
straight person’s point of view. I loved having my plays reflect people and issues from my
community. I loved writing specifically for audiences from my community. My community?
Diverse in so many ways except for one: gay. Like me.”
